PLAUD — privacy & data policy
Provider: PLAUD AI. PromptPrivacy score: 82/100. Last verified August 26, 2026.
What happens to your data?
Your audio recordings, transcripts, and inputs are stored in your Private Cloud and processed to deliver AI features like transcription and summarization. Your data is stored regionally (US, Germany, Japan, or Singapore) and shared only with necessary service providers under strict no-training contracts. You maintain full ownership and can delete your files or account at any time.
Does it train on your data?
PLAUD explicitly states that it will never use user content (such as audio files, photos, or text) to train, optimize, or develop its own or third-party AI/machine learning models without advance explicit and informed consent. Vendor agreements with LLM service providers also forbid them from using customer data for training.
Can you opt out?
Yes. AI model training is opt-in only, meaning user data is not trained on by default. Users can also opt out of advertising data sharing (including through Global Privacy Control signals), withdraw device permissions, and disconnect third-party integrations.
Data retention
User data is retained for as long as the account remains active to provide the services. When an account is deactivated, PLAUD deletes or anonymizes the data in accordance with applicable laws. Third-party integrations (such as Google Calendar) have their associated data deleted within 30 days of disconnection.
Encryption & security
PLAUD implements technical security measures including access control systems, encryption of data in transit and at rest using industry-standard protocols, intrusion detection, logging, and periodic security assessments.
Is it safe for work?
Yes. PLAUD provides strong data protections suitable for workplace use, including contractual commitments against model training on user inputs, regional server hosting options, encryption in transit and at rest, and dedicated terms for commercial customers where PLAUD acts as a data processor.
