Dia Browser — privacy & data policy

Provider: The Browser Company. PromptPrivacy score: 76/100. Last verified August 26, 2026.

What happens to your data?

Your browsing data stays encrypted on your local device, and only necessary prompts and page context are sent to AI partners, who are barred from training on it. By default, de-identified queries and responses are retained for 30 days to improve Dia unless you turn this off in settings. When sync is active, data is end-to-end encrypted so the provider cannot inspect it.

Does it train on your data?

Third-party AI partners are contractually prohibited from using submitted requests to train their models. The Browser Company uses de-identified content data by default to improve Dia's speed and accuracy, but users can opt out of this data collection at any time.

Can you opt out?

Yes. Users can immediately opt out of content data collection and Dia improvement in Settings > Privacy, and can delete their account directly within the app settings.

Data retention

Content data collected to improve Dia (such as questions asked and answers received) is stripped of account identifiers and permanently deleted after 30 days. Standard account and contact data is retained for the lifetime of the account, while other operational data is kept as long as necessary for business, operational, and legal purposes.

Encryption & security

Browsing data is encrypted and stored locally on the user's device. When the Sync feature is turned on, data transmitted across devices via servers is protected using end-to-end encryption, ensuring the company cannot read it. General physical, administrative, and technical safeguards are implemented, though specific certifications (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001) are not specified.

Is it safe for work?

Yes, with appropriate settings. AI partners cannot train on prompts, sync uses end-to-end encryption, and content data is shielded from domain administrators. Workplaces handling confidential data should ensure users disable the default Dia improvement data sharing in Settings > Privacy.
