What happens to your data?

Google collects your inputs, activity, device specs, location, and uploaded content to deliver and personalize services, prevent abuse, and develop new features. Your personal information is not sold and is shared externally only with your consent, to comply with legal requests, or with trusted service providers processing data under Google's direction. You can inspect, modify, export, or delete your information at any time through your Google Account controls.

Does it train on your data?

Google states that it uses publicly available information to train its AI models and build features like Google Translate, Gemini Apps, and Cloud AI capabilities. In general, it uses data gathered across its services to maintain, improve, and develop new offerings. Users can adjust settings like Web & App Activity to control whether certain activity is retained and used to enhance services.

Can you opt out?

Yes. Users can manage or pause tracking for Search Services History, Web & App Activity, and YouTube History, and can turn off personalized advertising in My Ad Center. Essential telemetry and operational data necessary to deliver the service, however, cannot be opted out of while actively using an account.

Data retention
